Who We Are
Fertile Mind was founded and led by Professor Alison Campbell, who is Chief Scientific Officer of the Care Fertility Group which currently consists of 19 IVF laboratories in the UK, Ireland, Spain and the US. Alison is a renowned Consultant Embryologist, Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and has published widely in the field of clinical embryology, for almost 3 decades.
Alison has a broad knowledge of the fertility sector with experience in the U.K. and abroad. The key areas of experience are:
Leadership
Alison has held leadership roles for three decades. She leads by example, is passionate about staff development and firmly believes in the power of a shared vision and values.
Innovation
Alison is a developer, implementer and author of time-lapse algorithms to predict ploidy and live birth and her team have recently developed a multi-award winning artificial intelligence tool to support embryo selection across the Care clinic network. Alison is a creative and critical thinker. She enjoys new product evaluations and supporting product development.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Alison has been actively involved in Care Fertility’s mergers and acquisitions and was part of the senior management team on Care Fertility’s last two sales. She has experience in IM preparation and management presentations to potential private equity buyers. Alison has been involved in due diligence and buy side on around 12 clinic acquisitions.
Practice Standardisation & Improvement
Alison has been demonstrably successful in aligning best practices across Care Fertility’s IVF laboratories to ensure time and cost efficiency, flexibility and continuously improved clinical outcomes.
Scientific Education
Alison has a passion for the training and development of embryologists and has established a dedicated practical training centre for embryologists which is now home to the UK’s first university-industry joint Master’s degree in Clinical Embryology.
Advisory
Alison actively shares her knowledge and experience, lecturing worldwide and participating on scientific advisory boards including the scientific and clinical advances advisory committee for the UK’s regulator (HFEA). She is also part of the editorial boards for Human Reproduction and Reproductive BioMedicine Online and Vice President of Alpha Scientists in Reproductive Medicine.
Procurement
Alison has broad experience in IVF laboratory equipment and consumable procurement, and strategic supplier relationships.
